Seana Mallen, an award-winning Californian artist, met a Yorkshireman in Hong Kong in the '80's, fell in love with him... and then fell in love with England and the glorious English landscape... and she's has been here or less ever since.

She feels so lucky to have a studio in the friendly creative community of Stanmer Craft Museum, set in beautiful Stanmer Park, where the bluebells, the forest and the South Downs are a constant inspiration.

As well as painting, she has been inspiring and encouraging people to explore their creativity through art for many years. Seana is passionate about helping others find their own artistic voice and has a deep understanding of the value of art in our lives. She is an incredible teacher and mentor, and her enthusiasm for her craft is contagious.

Finally an update, happy 2023!

My big news is that I’ve created a lovely studio space in our new house in Shoreham by Sea, right on the River Adur.

my dog, Cosmo and I walk along the river every day, and every day is different and inspiring.

The sunsets are epic… Mother Nature can be completely over the top, almost gaudy  and garish in her spectacular displays…

And then she decides to to be subtle and mysterious the very next day…

I realize I’m as obsessed by the river as I was by the bluebells. (By the way, I am still keeping my studio at Stanmer park, because I do love it so much, but I am sharing it with a couple of friends now.)

I’m very excited about this new work, which is all oil on canvas.

This weekend I’m leaving on a 2 1/2 month trip, so I am launching this new collection with some sneak previews in the Brighton Artists Open Houses in May  and then the full collection in my studio in Shoreham for  The Adur Art  Trail in June.

Watch this space!

My other exciting news is that I’m going to be running lots of workshops at One Garden Brighton, this spring and summer. Wine tasting and painting, Day-long Art Retreats, and even some classes for tweens and teens.

It will be such a treat to work in this beautiful garden, sampling their local Plumpton wines, and on the art retreat days having lunch in their beautiful restaurant.

All details to follow.
