The Beauty of Small Things

Watercolour and Ink

The ox tongue has a special place in my heart. For the first four years I lived on the salt marsh I walked my dog every day and thought all the yellow weeds were dandelions. Then in May 2024, I went on a wildflower walk with a Friends Of Shoreham Beach and it blew my mind!

None of the yellow weeds were dandelions!  They were slender sow-thistle, Bristly Ox-tongue, silver Ragwort, Hawksweed Ox-tongue and more. Now my eyes are OPEN and my daily walks are so fascinating.

There’s so much to notice and so much beauty in the small things underfoot.
