A significant cross-government effort is under way, dubbed ‘Operation Warm Welcome’, to ensure Afghans arriving in the UK receive the vital support they need to rebuild their lives, find work, pursue education and integrate into their local communities.
I’ve been deeply moved by the stories I’ve heard of so many people reaching out to Afghanis whose lives would be intolerable under the Taliban. It’s been a sort of Dunkirk by WhatsApp.
For most refugees their first glimpse of England is the south coast, the iconic white cliffs. These same white cliffs that have inspired so much of my recent artwork.
To do my part to extend the warmest welcome, I’m selling some these paintings, framed, with 100% of the profit going to the Hummingbird Project, a brighton based charity who say, “Join us to say loud and clear that refugees are welcome!”
