Mixed media on archival paper,
7” x 7”
From my new series of mixed media paintings based on walks this spring in bluebell woods in the South Downs.
This one include collage of a lovely old map of the area around Lewes, With an ancient tumulus marked. I love that the map is a completely different representation of the landscape, and an evocative of the thousands of years that people have walked this land before. The bits of an old Roget’s Thesaurus are words about light.
When you’re deep in the bluebell woods, you feel bathed in the blue and the light from the green fields behind is almost fluorescent in its brightness.
Like light at the end of the tunnel, it feels like hope.
